1956
Mason Bass of Bell FFA wins State of Florida Livestock Judging competition. Mason placed first and Daniel Davis also of Bell FFA placed third. Mason will go on to compete in the national competition in Kansas City. Mr. Donald Hurst was their Agriculture teacher.
The Townsend Reunion and monument dedication was held in September at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. The reunion was followed by the dedication at Townsend Cemetery.
1969
Ken Hayes, of Trenton High School was selected as Star Student of Gilchrist County. Ken picked Mrs. Johny Johnson, mathematics teacher as his Star Teacher. They were honored at a banquet sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
Osceola 4-H Club won the best club honor at Rally Day. Best all-around 4-H’ers were Ydora Polk and Tommy Langford.
2008
Some 1,500 people attended 15th Annual Education Foundation Wild Beast Feast at the DeChamplain’s arena. Mr. Nathan Shepherd cooked the grits, Damon Leggett fried quail, while Mary Ann Johnson and Patsy Turner poured gallons of sweet tea. Those attending enjoyed swamp cabbage donated by Mr. Etter Usher and all types of wild game.
